The annual Kulan Lecture is co-sponsored with the University of Toronto Geology Department and the Yukon Chamber of Commerce. The speaker is Dr. Steve Israel.

Dr. Israel was born in southern Ontario, did his Undergraduate degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His MSc and PhD work was done at the University of British Columbia, both in structural geology and tectonics, working mainly in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia. He is currently working as a regional bedrock mapper with the Yukon Geological Survey (since 2004).
